Ship Engineer/DPE

Ships engineers are in charge of crews who maintain and repair technical equipment such as ship engines, pumps, electrical wiring, communication systems and refrigeration equipment. Ships Engineers are licensed and skilled crew members responsible for the engine department on board a vessel, which is headed by the Chief Engineer. In some jurisdictions, the Chief Engineer has equal ranking to the Captain and overall responsibility of the vessel is shared, with the Captain managing the deck operations and the Chief Engineer managing the engine room and maintenance.[source: Rigzone]
